Our Environmental Test
services include testing to a wide range of standards or custom test
requirements to simulate various environmental effects and related
product ruggedness and survivability testing. We provide extensive
experience in both testing and preparation of test plans. We perform
a wide array of tests according to MIL-STD 810 and are continually
adding new capabilities to our test offerings. Our test facility
boasts state of the art Data Logging and Computer Controlled test
chambers to provide accurate and detailed profile controls and test
data recording.
Our capabilities
include extreme low and high temperature testing with fast
transition rates with chambers of varying size to fit your products;
Temperature Shock, Altitude tests up to 100,000ft at various
temperatures, Vibration and Shock testing according to your specs,
Humidity testing with chambers of varying sizes including up to a
10' by 10' walk-in chamber, Combined Vibration and Temperature
testing is available using our Agree chamber, Immersion tests, Drop
tests, Salt Fog and others - just ask!
We also perform Life
Cycle testing for your quality control test requirements using
automated test fixtures for various types of equipment including but
not limited to, endurance testing of switches and buttons,
repetitive testing of plugs, and make/break testing of connectors.
The Standards Services Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology were welcomed by Mike Violette and Steve Ferguson of Washington Labs. The group, led by Gordon Gillerman, were provided an overview of laboratory operations and the use of standards in everyday testing.

The Standards Services Division conducts standards-related programs and provides knowledge and services that will strengthen the U.S. economy, to ensure recognition and use of U.S. standards domestically and in the global marketplace; promote worldwide acceptance of U.S. test and calibration data to facilitate the marketing of U.S. products; and provide assistance to industry, trade associations, and exporters through its operations, training and information programs.
There are many dynamic areas of standards-setting in the area of technology products, software, homeland security and related disciplines in modern American life. Mike Violette provided a little "look under the hood" at some of the domestic and international activities.
