Since 1989, WLL has been providing EMC, Wireless, Product Safety and Environmental test and measurement, product compliance and engineering solutions to the Telecommunications, Medical, Industrial, Consumer and Aerospace/Defense sectors.
EMC Testing and Evaluation: Our full-service electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and Radio Frequency offerings include Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Industry Canada, European Union CE Marking, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160. Our expertise in Nuclear EMC Qualification to EPRI TR-102323 and Nuclear Regulatory Commission NRC Reg Guide 1.180 includes equipment test and qualification and site surveys for nuclear plant upgrades. We are a Notified Body (1317) for the European EMC Directive (2004/108/EC to 2014/30/EU; 99/5/EC R&TTE Directive and 2014/53/EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED).
Wireless Testing and Certification: Licensed and unlicensed radio transmitters are subject to Certification under the FCC Rules and Regulations. FCC Part 15 Certification applies to unlicensed low power devices, such as WiFi, 802.11 a/b/g/n, RFID, Bluetooth, periodic operation and short-range device (SRD) operation. Washington Laboratories has been providing Wireless Certification services for RFID, WLAN, Public Service, Satellite, Industrial and Telecommunications manufacturers. We are a Notified Body for the Radio and Telecommunication Terminal Equipment Directive (R&TTED-1995/5/EC, which will be superseded by 2014/53/EC and is effective 13 June 2016).
Product Safety is an integral part of our one-stop shop. We provide Testing and evaluation to IEC 60950, 61010, 60601-1 for information technology, industrial, laboratory, measurement and medical equipment. We also provide NRTL support for product safety certification and listing to OSHA Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory program. We provide independent testing for product conformance to national and international standards, including CE Marking for compliance with the Low Voltage Directive (LVD 2014/35/EU).
Environmental Testing rounds out our testing offerings. We provide temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, altitude, ingress protection, salt fog, acceleration and submersion to MIL-STD-810G, DO-160, IEC 60529 and 60068. Environmental testing assesses the ability of equipment to withstand harsh conditions under use, storage and shipping. An environmental test program consists of assessing profiles to simulate the conditions depending on the installation environment. Environmental testing may also assess the ruggedness of equipment. HALT/HASS or Highly Accelerated Life Testing and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening simulate is used to assess the long-term effects of environmental stresses.
Engineering Design, Test Plans and Procedures are integral parts of a successful compliance program. Design support for printed circuit board layout, enclosure design for effective shielding, grounding, power filtering, component selection and specifications for compliance with regulatory or contractual requirements. The design and support should start early in the process and consists of a review of schematic, layout and parts lists and bills of materials. The review before layout and manufacturing can save time and cost during compliance testing. Our design supports dovetails with our Engineering Training support under the Washington Laboratories Academy. EMC, Safety, Wireless and Environmental training programs feature full five day programs taught by iNARTE-Certified professionals as well as short programs, laboratory demonstrations and webinars covering conformity assessment and certification.
