OTA testing method for RED, coexistence and EM interference

Our world is getting more and more connected. Almost all the devices that we use in our day-to-day life, offer some form of remote access and control possibility. Starting from our home appliances (such as washing machine, vacuum cleaner, refrigerator, Television etc) to our cars, everything supports some kind of wireless interface to connect to the internet. The two most common types of connectivity trend found in most products are WIFI and Bluetooth. However, there are other technologies better suited for applications that require less frequent communication with the infrastructure. Some form of IoT technology is the preferred choice in those applications. And finally, mobility applications use few more connectivity technologies such as cellular based communication (2G, 3G, 4G LTE, 5G), GPS navigation, NFC, Wireless toll collection, FM, DAB and satellite based radio services.
All these wireless technologies operate on RF frequencies, which are quite close to one another and in some cases even overlap with each other. In addition to in-device coexistence, most of these module are connected to an antenna system. The antennas have varying beam properties and also pick up signals from passing networks and degrade the performance of the system. Thus, the topic of proximity coexistence is also very important.
The big question of every product manufacturer is how their product survive in this harsh RF reality. The answer is TESTING. This webinar will introduce Over the Air (OTA) radiated testing concept for combined radio products. The concept is very structured and divided in multiple steps. The preparation steps consist of product use-case determination, EM environment recreation, and interference signal identification and finally a risk assessment is performed. In the testing steps, calibration is performed, the test is setup and measurement is performed. This webinar will also talk about two more topics that are relevant of the community, IP security testing and user experience testing. Even though this webinar is targeted towards all industries but a concrete example based on an automotive coexistence test case will be shown for the ease of understanding.
