The Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) Directive has been in active use for over a decade and the industry has seen many changes in that time. To accommodate the changes to our industry and also align with the requirements of the New Legislative Framework (NLF), the R&TTE Directive has been re-written and the result is the Radio Equipment Directive: The RED.
Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU
Changes to the R&TTE Directive (1999/5/EC) include alignment with the NLF and other aspects identified as necessary to ensure the compliance and quality of radio equipment.
The goals of the new directive include improving the level of compliance with the “essential requirements,” increasing the confidence of all stakeholders in the regulatory framework and clarifying the Directive in order to facilitate its application.
The text of the Directive was published in May 2014 as Directive 2014/53/EU.
In this webinar, we will highlight the most significant changes and revisions to the requirements and the latest approach to applying the directive for compliance with the European CE Marking requirements for radio equipment. These changes will impact the obligations of all economic operators in the supply chain, including manufacturers, test labs, Notified Bodies and other stakeholders.
